Holiday Party 2014 at 519 Community Centre

Madison has carved out a special niche, as a mental health and addictions agency, by providing our clients with a wide range of social events and recreational activities. It has been proven that such activities play a key role in the recovery journey of our clients. Our commitment to maintaining and expanding this program includes providing them with opportunities to break out of isolation; socialize; develop a community of friends; learn new skills; and improve their overall life experience.

In our fiscal year 2013-14, some of our social events and recreational activities included a 3-day, out-of-town client retreat, holiday lunches and a multitude of city outings (for example, the Canadian National Exhibition, the Art Gallery of Ontario, the Royal Ontario Museum, the Canadian Opera Company, a Toronto Blue Jays baseball game, plays and concerts).

Client Testimonials

Outing to the Toronto Zoo

“The social/recreational events offer a sense of community (and fun) when I feel isolated. I’ve especially enjoyed participating in the arts exhibition and open house. Madison remains a leader and innovator in delivering services to those with addictions and mental health challenges.”

“Social activities build emotional intelligence… the ability to get along with people and deal with conflict. People with mental health challenges are almost always isolated. We can’t afford to go to events. Madison’s group activities bring us together.”
