At Madison, we believe that social and recreational activities are essential to the recovery journey of our clients. We are dedicated to providing and expanding this program because these activities play a pivotal role in addressing the Social Determinants of Health.

Our program offers clients the chance to meet new people, socialize, build a community of friends, learn new skills, and enhance their overall life experience. These activities are thoughtfully planned and organized by a social recreation committee made up of dedicated volunteer staff.

Over the years, some of the events and outings have included visits to the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), the Royal Ontario Museum (ROM), the Science Center, Centre Island, Niagara Falls, our Annual Client Holiday Party, and the Canadian National Exhibition (CNE). With the generous support of our donors, we have been able to host an Annual Holiday Dinner Party, one of our most beloved events, with the highest client attendance.

We would like to express our heartfelt thanks to all our clients and the staff who make these memorable social recreation events possible. Together, we’re creating lasting memories, strengthening our community, and supporting each client’s path to recovery!

Client Testimonial

The social/recreational events offer a sense of community (and fun) when I feel isolated. I’ve especially enjoyed participating in the arts exhibition and open house. Madison remains a leader and innovator in delivering services to those with addictions and mental health challenges.

Social activities build emotional intelligence… the ability to get along with people and deal with conflict. People with mental health challenges are almost always isolated. We can’t afford to go to events. Madison’s group activities bring us together.
